Throughout my career with Modern Woodmen, I’ve had the opportunity to look around my community for places where I can make a difference both individually and corporately.
When she told me her story, I realized the peace of mind I can help bring to families in moments of stress.
As she was lying in a ditch on the side of the road, she said her fears were calmed. She knew if she didn’t survive, her family would be financially stable because of the life insurance plan we put in place for her just months earlier.
Our efforts helped spark others in the community to support this worthwhile endeavor … and continue it into the future.
Some of the children in our local elementary schools only had adequate food during the week because of the free breakfast and lunch programs. They were going hungry over the weekend. Because of our chapter project, local churches now support these children through weekly food donations.
As a Modern Woodmen representative, I have the pleasure of helping my members throughout their whole lives. It’s not just a one-time meeting.
This grandmother was naturally very concerned about her future and how to ensure her grandchildren will be provided for. I could reassure her that I will not only help her with her immediate needs, but I will continue working with her as life changes.
I assured her we could take those funds and create income for her.
Her tears of gratitude are something I will not forget. I had met with her husband when I was a brand-new representative. We reviewed his life insurance together and made a few necessary adjustments. He suffered a heart attack and passed away just a few months later.
I had heard about the wonderful Modern Woodmen trips, so I worked very hard to qualify for the trip my first year. So far, I have made them all!
