To better serve our members, Modern Woodmen of America offers a text messaging service (the “Service”) for use by financial representatives and members. The Service is provided as a convenience to you, not as a promotional function for Modern Woodmen. You may communicate with your financial representative about products and services. For example, you can ask your financial representative about upcoming meetings you have scheduled, or your representative might send you a reminder. You could also ask for information about products or services, or about Modern Woodmen chapter events and activities. The term “text” refers to Short Message Service (“SMS”). To participate, your Modern Woodmen financial representative will enroll you in the Service, and you will have an opportunity to opt-out of the Service if you do not wish to participate, as described below.
Authorization
If you are an existing Modern Woodmen member or your mobile number has been provided to Modern Woodmen for inquiries, you have provided the requisite consent to allow a Modern Woodmen financial representative to text you regarding your relationship or the product or information about which you inquired. Further, your consent for text communications may be either communicated directly or inferred based on your actions, such as initiating a text communication with a financial representative or by providing your mobile number to that representative with an inquiry. The Service is subject to Modern Woodmen’s Terms of Use and Online Privacy Policy which is available on the website. Please notify your financial representative immediately if you change mobile numbers or plan to provide your phone to another person. You will not be enrolled in a "mailing list" when you subscribe to this Service, as messages are sent between financial representatives’ offices and members or prospective members.
All texts will be retained by Modern Woodmen as required by law.
Stop Messages/Opt-Out
You may opt out of receiving text messages and unsubscribe from the Service at any time. To stop receiving text messages, you may text STOP at any time. Following your request to unsubscribe, you will receive one final message confirming that you have opted out of the Service. Following that confirmation message, no additional text messages will be sent. You may re-enroll after opting out by texting back UNSTOP.
Please note, your Modern Woodmen representative or a home office employee may still contact you, as necessary, regarding transactions you have initiated or about your existing certificates. If you have an alternative preferred mode of communication, please let your Modern Woodmen representative know. You may also continue to receive text messages related to other aspects of Modern Woodmen, such as its fraternal chapter activities, for which you would need to opt out separately using our opt-out service.
Charges
Modern Woodmen does not charge you to participate in the Service; however, your carrier message and data rates may apply. If you have questions about those charges, we encourage you to contact your carrier to discuss your plan.
Privacy and Security
Modern Woodmen is committed to building user trust and confidence by promoting and complying with business practices that protect the privacy of our members and their data. For more information you can view a copy of our Online Privacy Policy or Privacy Notice.
A Modern Woodmen financial representative may occasionally send a link to a website, document, or other information. Although a financial representative would never intentionally send a malicious link, check that any links you receive look like what you are expecting or appear familiar to you before clicking on them.
Please understand that text messaging is not a secure method to transmit information. Modern Woodmen does not allow financial representatives to send or receive personal information such as private health information, driver’s license numbers, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, or financial account numbers through the Service. Servicing requests and other communications regarding certificates or transactions should not be sent through the Service. You should take steps to safeguard your phone and your text messages if you want them to remain private.
TEXT MESSAGES ARE NOT SECURE AND NO CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION SHOULD BE SENT VIA A TEXT MESSAGE.
Modern Woodmen will terminate access to the Service in the event it is misused or abused. For example, Modern Woodmen will not tolerate any abusive or harassing text messages and may terminate your ability to participate in the Service at Modern Woodmen’s sole discretion at any point such misuse or abuse has occurred. Examples of harassing or abusive use of the Service include but are not limited to: sending inappropriate material that is offensive, libelous or defamatory, threatening, abusive, obscene, coercive, or violent. Modern Woodmen will not tolerate any use of the Service which otherwise violates any State or Federal law, including but not limited to intellectual property laws (e.g., trade secrets, copyright, patents, trademarks). Immediate termination of the Service will result from any activities using malicious software or other programs intended to damage, spy on, or misappropriate protected data from Modern Woodmen, its members, financial representatives, employees, systems, or property, or otherwise intended to damage Modern Woodmen in any way.
Images
The Service is not capable of sending or receiving pictures, images, or other multimedia messages. If you attempt to send one of these messages, it will not be received by your financial representative.
Message Frequency May Vary
We want to respect your privacy and encourage you to notify your financial representative of your preferred texting frequency and availability.
No Guarantee
The Service requires that you have a text-enabled mobile device. Modern Woodmen and its financial representatives are not responsible for incomplete, lost, late, or misdirected messages, including (but not limited to) undelivered messages resulting from any form of filtering by your mobile carrier, service provider, or otherwise. Modern Woodmen is not responsible for any prohibitions, restrictions, or incompatible features implemented by your mobile carrier that impede your use of the Service and encourages you to direct any questions about such issues to your mobile carrier.
Securities Disclosure and Trading Instructions
Securities are offered through MWA Financial Services, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Modern Woodmen of America. Products are available in most states. Individual representatives may not be licensed to sell all products. You will not be able to perform transactions by text, such as performing trades or other transactions. Please do not transmit orders or trading instructions through the Service. For your protection, we do not accept and act on such instructions. Please speak directly with your financial representative if you need to give instructions related to your account.
Termination
Modern Woodmen reserves the right to terminate this Service, in whole or in part, at any time without notice.
