Local Modern Woodmen region to receive Fraternal Region Builder Award
Modern Woodmen of America’s California South Region, led by Regional Director Chad B. Foster, will receive the organization’s Fraternal Region Builder Award. This national award is presented to one growing Modern Woodmen region each year based on the fraternal impact made on local communities.
Foster, whose regional office is based in Laguna Hills, accepted the award at a banquet on March 19.
“The members and financial representatives in the Foster region are truly dedicated to making an impact,” said Jill Lain Weaver, Modern Woodmen’s fraternal director. “They’ve done a great job of demonstrating Modern Woodmen’s mission to improve quality of life.”
Modern Woodmen and its representatives provide both financial services and fraternal member benefits, including social, educational and volunteer programs, to residents in southern California.
In 2015, local communities received nearly $260,000 from Modern Woodmen and its members in fraternal assistance, an increase of more than 376 percent from 2014. Members locally and throughout the country support a variety of projects to benefit their communities, such as donating to local food banks, helping families and individuals in need, and beautifying local parks.
Representatives in the region also donated 410 free youth educational programs to area schools and youth organizations last year, educating 17,969 local children about financial literacy, civics and citizenship, exercise and nutrition, and other topics.
Members from the California South Region’s 38 chapters, 6 Summit chapters (for members age 55 and older) and 3 youth service clubs dedicated a total of 1,807 volunteer hours to community projects in 2015. Foster’s region also founded five new chapters, three new youth service clubs and two new Summit chapters.
A particular highlight of the region’s 2015 success is the $227,596 donated to local causes through Modern Woodmen’s Matching Fund Program. This program allows chapter members to show their support for community causes or individuals in need by organizing fundraisers. Modern Woodmen matches the amount raised by each event up to $2,500.
Modern Woodmen serves members for life. The tax-exempt fraternal benefit society offers life insurance, annuity and investment* products to improve the quality of life of its members, their families and their communities. In turn, members make an impact through social, educational and volunteer activities. In 2015, Modern Woodmen and its members provided $19.2 million and 438,000 volunteer hours for community projects nationwide.
